Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on Team Picker, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.

1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used
to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to remember information about you or your
device between page loads and visits. “Similar technologies” include HTML5 localStorage
and sessionStorage, which are held in your browser but are not transmitted with every
request.
Cookies can be:
- First-party (set by the site you are visiting, i.e. Bibsplit) or third-party (set by another domain, for example a font provider);
- Session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (stored until they expire or you delete them).
2. How we use cookies and similar technologies
We keep our use of cookies minimal. We only use cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the Service (in particular, to keep you logged in and to protect against cross-site request forgery). We do not use analytics, advertising, marketing, social-media or tracking cookies. We do not fingerprint your device.
3. Cookies we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
session |
Keeps you logged in. Stores a cryptographically-signed identifier that links your browser to your Bibsplit account. Also used to defend against cross-site request forgery. Strictly necessary to provide the Service. | First-party, HTTP-only, Secure (in production), SameSite=Lax | Until you log out or the session expires (up to 31 days) |
Because these cookies are strictly necessary to provide a service that you have expressly requested (namely, being logged in), they are exempt from the consent requirement under Regulation 6(4) of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (“PECR”) and equivalent provisions in the EU ePrivacy Directive.
4. Browser storage we use
We also use a small amount of your browser’s localStorage. This information is
stored in your browser and never transmitted to our servers. It exists only to make
the app more pleasant to use on repeat visits.
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
tp-theme |
Remembers whether you selected light or dark mode. | Until you clear browser storage |
tutorialSeen |
Records that you have dismissed the introductory tutorial so we do not show it again. | Until you clear browser storage |
tp-cookie-notice-dismissed |
Records that you have dismissed our cookie/consent notice so we do not show it on every visit. | Until you clear browser storage |
5. Third-party cookies
We do not set third-party cookies ourselves. However, some pages load web fonts from fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com. Google does not set cookies on those domains but may log the IP address of the request. Please see Google’s cookies and privacy policies for details.
6. Consent
Because we only use strictly-necessary cookies, we do not need your consent to place them on your device under UK PECR / the EU ePrivacy Directive. We still show a one-time notice so you know they are there. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we will ask for your prior explicit consent through an in-app cookie banner and give you a real, equal choice to accept or reject.
7. How to control cookies
Most browsers let you view, delete or block cookies. You can find instructions here:
Blocking the strictly-necessary session cookie will stop you from being able to log
in or use account features. You can find more information about cookies in general at
aboutcookies.org and, if you are in the UK, at
ico.org.uk.
8. Do-Not-Track and Global Privacy Control signals
Because we do not carry out tracking, targeted advertising or the sale/sharing of personal information, there is nothing for Do-Not-Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals to suppress. We still recognise these signals and treat them as an opt-out where they would apply.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the version number and effective date at the top of the page. If we introduce new categories of cookies, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies on your device.
