Bibsplit takes tonight's squad and splits it into two even sides in seconds — bibs on, kick off, no captain's-pick politics.
Bibsplit takes the group you're playing with tonight and splits them into two sides with the closest total skill it can find. Each player has a rating from 0 to 10 that you set once and adjust as their form changes. The picker considers valid splits, scores each one by how close the two combined ratings are, and returns the split with the smallest gap. In practice that means fewer 6–1 walkovers and more matches where the losing side comes off feeling like they had a chance.
You can nudge the results too — move players between sides after auto-picking and Bibsplit recalculates the totals live, so you can see exactly what the trade-off is before kick-off.
A rating of 5 is your baseline: someone who turns up, gets involved, doesn't stand out either way. A 7 changes games — the player everyone's happy to see walking through the door. A 3 is honest about the fact that they're there for the exercise more than the goals. There's no obligation to be scientific about it. Most captains find their ratings settle after three or four sessions, once they've watched everyone play alongside and against each other.
Update ratings when someone comes back from injury, when the new signing turns out to be nothing like advertised, or when a rusty player rediscovers their touch. The ratings only need to be roughly right for the picker to produce roughly fair teams.
The tempting approach is to pick head-to-head: A picks their friend, B picks theirs, back and forth. It's fast, but it optimises for social politics rather than the game. The second issue is that captains rarely have every rating loaded in their head at the same time — they compare the two players in front of them, not the six they've already assigned. Over ten picks the gap compounds and one team ends up two goals ahead before anyone's even kicked off.
Bibsplit sidesteps both problems by working from a written-down rating for every player and looking at the whole squad at once. Even if your ratings are a little off, the outcome is usually closer than picking blind.
Log the outcome after the match and it's saved against every player who took part. Over a season you'll see who's on winning teams more often than the rating alone predicts, which is usually a signal the rating is too low. It's also useful for settling the annual debate about who never loses. Match history is per-account and private to you — sign in to keep a running record, or use the guest pick-team flow if you just want to split tonight's squad and get on with it.
